Mrs. John Whiting
Mrs. Lula Whiting of 12 Grove St., Cuba, died Sunday, October 14, 1979, in Cuba Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
Born January 14, 1896 in Midland, Michigan, She was a daughter of Ethan and Martha Harcourt Taft. A resident of the Cuba area for the past 40 years, she had formerly resided in Hornell. On August 26, 1914, in Hornell, she married John Whiting, who predeceased her March 13, 1967.
Mrs. Whiting was a member of Friendship Methodist Church, Travelers Club of Friendship, Order of Easter Star: Duncan Chapter, Amaranth and Senior Citizens of Friendship.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Leon (Hazel) Nichols of Cuba and Mrs. Wesley (Helen) Hodge of Wellsville, six grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Norton of Friendship, Mrs. Avis Pinder of Miami, FL, and Mrs. Sarah LaPorte of Las Vegas, NV, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral and committal services were held Tuesday, October 16, 1979, at 2 p.m. in the Voorhees Funeral Home, 64 South St., Cuba. The Rev. Roger Talbott, pastor of Cuba Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
Memorials may be made to the Cuba Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Thursday
John F. Whiting of Friendship died Monday, March 13, 1967 at Olean General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was a retired plant superintendent of the Kayser Glove Co. and a former resident of Cuba. Born at Ceres, NY, Dec. 18, 1895, he was a son of John and Anna Phelps Whiting.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Friendship and the Rutledge Masonic Lodge, A.F.M., Union, S.C.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lula Taft Whiting of Friendship; two daughters, Mrs. Leon (Hazel) Nichols of Cuba and Mrs. Wesley (Helen) Hodge of Belmont; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Whiting of Canaseraga.
Funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 1967, at the Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. DeWayne Cunningham Jr., pastor of the Friendship First Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Friendship.
Memorials may be made to the Cuba Memorial Hospital Building Fund.
