1810 Ossian Census
FIRST CENSUS OF ALLEGANY COUNTY
1810 Ossian Census
- Details
- Parent Category: 1810 Census
- Category: Ossian 1810 Census
Allegany County was formed in 1806 and the first federal census after that date was the first official census of the county in 1810.
I have done my best to transcribe the complete census with much deliberation over the handwriting on the pages. I present the census in transcribed columnar form and also present the page images for you to view and decide where I may have erred. The information of my transcription is a guide tool for you to use and not the official census. Many errors have been found in census reports and you must verify information and compare it with vital records to have a complete and accurate genealogy.

Allegany County in 1810 consisted of only 5 Townships. Angelica, Alfred, Nunda, Ossian & Caneadea. Re-mapping took place to form the current 29 Towns of the county from these 5. The 5 were all originally part of Genesee County.
OSSIAN---was formed from Angelica, (Allegany co.,)
March 11, 1808. It was set off from Allegany co., in 1856 to become a Town in Livingston County.
