Allegany County was formed in 1806 and the first federal census after that date was the first official census of the county in 1810.
In 1810 Allegany County consisted of only 5 Townships...... Angelica, Alfred, Nunda, Ossian & Caneadea. Re-mapping took place several times in order to form the current 29 Towns of the county from these 5. The 5 were all originally part of Genesee County.
I have done my best to transcribe the complete 1810 census with much deliberation over the handwriting on the pages. I present the census in transcribed columnar form and also present the page images for you to view and decide where I may have erred. The information of my transcription is a guide tool for you to use and not the official census. Many errors have been found in census reports and you must verify information and compare it with vital records to have a complete and accurate genealogy.
