NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Gary E. Stout, former resident of Hallsport, NY, passed away in Nashville, TN, on June 11, 2018.
Gary was born on June 3, 1925, to Lyle G. and Edith Francisco Stout in Hallsport, Town of Willing, NY.
He married May Owens of Erieville, NY; with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage in January. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ward Stout of Nashville, TN; his daughter, Penny Stout of Nashville, TN; and two grandchildren, Jessawynne Parker of Nashville, TN and Wyatt Cupp of Nashville, TN.
Gary is also survived by a brother, Galen (Betsey); a sister, Lorna (John) Mowatt; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stout.
He was predeceased by four brothers: Bruce, Neil, Byrl, Ellis, and a sister, Evelyn Stout Fuess.
He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1943 and took over his Dad's farm in Hallsport. Gary was a farmer at heart, who loved the land and had both dairy and beef cattle. He contributed to local government by filling the role of Justice of the Peace for the Town of Willing from 1958-1970. Gary, an avid music lover, played bass as a hobby and was a member of the Southern Tier Bluegrass Association. Early in his life he called for Square Dances throughout the county.
A private memorial service was held in Nashville, TN.
