OBITUARY

SALAMANCA - Mr. Larry R. Sturdevant, 77, of Salamanca, died Wednesday (Oct. 21, 2015) at his home following a short illness. 

Born on Aug. 15, 1938, in Wellsville, he was the son of the late Ross and Kathryn Reniff Sturdevant. He was married Dec. 6, 1969, in Salamanca to the former Pamela Schultz, who survives. 

Mr. Sturdevant graduated from the New York State Ranger School in 1959 and attended the University of Montana. He was a veteran of the U.S. 
Army, serving stateside during the Vietnam War. He was employed in the construction industry for over 30 years, retiring as a grade foreman for Union Local No. 621 in Olean.

Larry Sturdevant was member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, American Legion Post No. 181 in Randolph, Union Local No. 621 in Olean and the former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 1002.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Tim (Renate) Sturdevant of Cincinnati, Tom (Melanie) Sturdevant of Limestone and Tyler Sturdevant of Salamanca; nine grandchildren, Franziska Sturdevant of Cincinnati, Paris Sturdevant of Salamanca, Heidi Howe of Cuba, Ryan Grant of Oak Harbor, Wash., Katelynn Hartman of Limestone, Kyle Hartman of Limestone, Madison Hartman of Limestone, Christine Schiefer of Los Angeles and Alexander Shiefer of Cincinnati; two great-granddaughters, Avah Caputi and Ansley Caputi, both of Salamanca; and nine nieces and nephews, Deanna (Floyd) Scharf of Westfield, Ronald (Patty) Sturdevant of Wellsville, Dorraine Allen of Ohio, Dawn Sturdevant of Ohio, Dennis Sturdevant of Scio, Michael (Terra) LaCroix of Allegany, Daniel (Lindsay) LaCroix of Great Valley, Kristin McGonnell of Salamanca and Mark (Jenifer) Schultz of Arcade.

Friends may call for memorial visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 24, 2015) in United Congregational Methodist Church, 134 Broad St., Salamanca, with the Rev. Michael Lonto, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating.
