Carley Gilliland

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Carley Gilliland, 77, of Academy Street, Shinglehouse, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Wellsville Manor, Wellsville, NY following a brief illness.
Born July 19, 1935 in Belmont, NY, she was a daughter of Carl and Ruth Taylor Smith. On September 2, 1952, she married Raymond Eugene Karr, who died on July 24, 1997. In June of 1998, she married Theodore Gilliland, who survives.
She was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School.
Mrs. Gilliland was a devout Christian. She enjoyed gardening. She very much loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Sarah Karr (Mark) Bierman of Vero Beach, Florida; two granddaughters, Rachael (Jon) Taylor and Markae (Brett) Hawley; two step-grandsons, Mark (Kristin) Bierman, Jr. and Mike Bierman; a stepdaughter, Carol (Tom) Crum of Shinglehouse; a stepson, Bruce (Jane) Gilliland of Belmont; six great-grandchildren, Reece, Alexis, Brooke, Connor, Hunter, and Cammie; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian (Ted) Haupt of Sun City, Arizona and Marjorie (Wayne) Taylor of Wellsboro, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Mrs. Gilliland was predeceased by a step-great-granddaughter, Chelsea Bierman.
In keeping with Carley’s wishes there will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA with Pastor Wayne Taylor, Mrs. Gilliland’s brother-in-law, of Mt. View Baptist Church, Wellsboro, PA, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
Memorials may be made to a SPCA of the donor’s choice.
