Vera Brown

Almond-Vera Sanford Brown, 75, of Scio RD 1 died today (January 12, 1987) at the home of her sister in Almond following a long illness.

A native of the Town of Burns, she was a former resident of the Town of Almond and Rochester and for the past 37 years the Town of Scio.

She was a licensed practical nurse, did private duty in Rochester, Hornell and the Wellsville areas, and was employed at the Scio Central School cafeteria..

She attended the former Fredonia Normal School and graduated from the former Rochester School of Practical Nursing. She was a member of the Scio United Methodist Church, its choir and women’s group; and the Scio Senior Citizens.

She was the widow of Robert E. Brown, who died in 1973.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Metcalf of Marion; a son, Lawrence of Lafayette, Ind.; a sister, Pauline Sanford of Almond; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew; and cousins.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville, where a service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Revs. Frederick Wood and James Moser will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.
