Marian Grow Bromeley
Marian Grow Bromeley, 104, of Bradford, passed away Friday (April 8, 2011) at her residence.
She was born Nov. 22, 1906, in Duke Center, she was a daughter of the late William F.and Margaret G. (Gillespie) Grow.
She was a graduate of Bradford Senior High School, and in 1929 graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio.
On Oct. 12, 1929, she married Robert B. Bromeley, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2000.
She was a member of the former Valley Hunt Club, Pennhills Club, Bradford Club, Bradford Literary Club, Bradford Landmark Society, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Duke Center.
She and a dedicated group of friends were instrumental in the formation and operation of the Crook Farm, a restoration of a farm and oil producing property typical of early Bradford. She and her husband spent a substantial part of their lives in researching, restoring and re-furnishing their 1807 mansion, Belvidere.
She is survived by a son, Thomas R. (Jean) Bromeley of Bradford; grandchildren Robert (Sharon) Daggett, Deborah (Scott) Cavagnaro, Pamela (Donald) Fredeen, and Amy (Dan) McCune; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Bromeley Daggett; a son-in-law, George H. Daggett Jr.; a sister, Margaret G. Hanes; and a brother, William A. Grow.
There will be no public visitation. Friends will be invited to attend a memorial service at Church of the Ascension at a date to be announced.
Memorials, if desired, may be sent to the Bradford Landmark Society or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
