Andrews Cemetery (Civil War Monument), Town of West Almond, Allegany County, NY
This Cemetery is on Private Property and Permission must be obtained in order to visit the cemetery. The following is from Mary Rhodes: "Emma, George and Priscilla Andrews Taylor were all born in England. I cannot find them in the 1850 or 1860 census to confirm where William was born. Emma and George did collect a pension after Williams Death." Additional information will be added to this page as obtained. If anyone has additional information to be shared please Email: Webmaster@alleganyhistory.org .
Above is a sign erected at the burial site recently, presumably by descendents of the family......
Only one monument is visible here, but, a large stone is nearby.
"I could not read the writing on the monument, but I believe William enlisted Aug 8, 1862 in Belmont and served in Co H. NY 1st Cavalry Regiment. He was killed at Todd's Tavern VA on May 7, 1864." (Mary Rhodes)
