Trapping Brook Cemetery (aka Hills Cemetery, aka June Cemetery), Town of Wellsville, Allegany County, NY
Trapping Brook- aka/JUNE Cemetery aka/Hills Cemetery. The only visible names on stones are HILLS & JUNE. Others are probably buried here.
David June Died June 30, 1867 Aged 69 Yrs - No visible Stone
As of June, 2004, The Town of Wellsville has just completed a major brush removal and once again the last few remaining stones are surfaced. As today's World encroaches on these historic burial grounds, care needs to be taken to preserve them. Badly sunken burial spots exist and even a casket part was visible from groundhog excavation. There is a need to define the boundaries and a fence should be erected for protection.
This cemetery is located on the left hand side of the Trapping Brook Road approximately 3/4 mile from the Village of Wellsville Line. It is the burial spot for at least 18 people and most are presently unknown. I am showing the two clearly visible stones that are visible along with a list of their contents, and, a couple of other shots of the site. I hope to update the list as the names become available.
