HOPKINS, WARD M., Cuba N. Y. Born Aug. 13, 1891, at Centerville, N. Y., the son of James Lyman Hopkins and Jennie Morris Hopkins. Married April 25, 1925, to Maude L. McElheney, daughter of Frank L. McElheney and Mary Lang Mc-Elheney. Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins have two children: Mary Elizabeth Hopkins and Robert Morris Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins was educated in a District School at Centerville and was graduated from Fillmore High School, Fillmore, N. Y., Class of 1911; from the University of Michigan, Class of 1917, and from the Law School of the University of Michigan, Class of 1921.
He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba, N. Y.; Cuha Lodge 306, F. & A. M.; Cuba Post 655, A. L.; Cuba Rod and (inn Club and Cuba Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Hopkins served as Supervisor, Town of Centerville, 1922 to 1924; Supervisor Town of Cuba, 1926 to 1930; District Attorney, Allegany County, 1930 to 1936. He is a Past Commander of Cuba Post 655, A. L., and served as Service Officer for the American Legion of Allegany County for several years. He was elected to the office of Allegany County Judge and Surrogate and judge of Children's Court and took office on Jan. 1, 1936, an office which he holds at the present time. He is also a Director and President of the First National Bank of Cuba, and a Director of the Cuba Memorial Hospital of Cuba, and President of the Cuba Council of Churches.
Mr. Hopkins practiced law in partnership with Mr. Harry E. Keller of Cuba from Feb. 1, 1922, to Jan. I, 1936.
He served for seventeen months as a Private First Class, 308th Field Hospital, during the World War (I) and spent 15 months of this time overseas. At present he is commissioned as a First Lieutenant, Medical Administrative Reserve Corps.
