Edward J. Atwood

Mr. Atwood was President of the Village of Andover for a number of years and was always active in civic matters. He was very proud of Andover.
He helped secure the Silk Mill and other industries into Andover. He was one of the founders of Burrows National Bank in 1906. He served 20 years as Vice President and was on the Board of Directors.
He was on the Board of Education of the Andover High School
As a young man, he worked in his father’s hardware store and finally took it over. He ran the store for a number of years and finally sold it and entered into the oil business. He was very successful.
He was a very kind man and performed deeds that none but himself and the beneficiaries ever knew about.
He was a congenial and fraternal citizen and a most loyal friend to all.

Mr. Atwood is buried in Valley Brook Cemetery, Town of Andover.
